I am spending this summer taking a few workshops through Kent State University. All three workshops that I am taking are online, which has been an interesting experience. I am really enjoying them a lot. It is very nice to be able to dictate my own schedule for doing classwork and assignments.
The first class I took was on Website Design. I completed this class in June. I am currently finishing up a class on Podcasting, Blogging (hence me starting the blog), and RSS Feeds as well as another class on using Adobe Acrobat.
I have expecially liked the Podcasting, Blogging and RSS Feed class (and no, I'm not kissing up). I can see many practical applications for the new technologies I have learned to use. For this class, I had to create a podcast, a PowerPoint lecture presentation capture, and a computer screen capture.
My PowerPoint lecture was about reading chord grids in guitar class. You can watch my presentation here:
My computer screen capture was about using some of the editing functions for adding musical expression in Finale music notation software. You can watch my presentation here:

That was a great screen capture of finale. Finale is my favorite music writing program. I don't know if you've used it much with students but Finale notepad can be downloaded for free. It has many of the same capabilities that Finale has. I liked the picture of your band too.
Chad,
Your blog looks great! I enjoyed the workshop too and will be taking my third workshop in August.
Enjoy the rest of your summer!
I enjoyed your powerpoint presentation. I took lessons in high school but didn't stick with it. My husband loves to play and has a least four guitars. He tries to get me to play every now and then. He has given me a chord book, but I think that viewing a presentation such as yours would make it much easier. It nice to hear someone telling you how to do it without getting flustered at your incompetence. Keep up the good work.
Yeah sure you're not kissing up :-p I hope that you can use some of the technolgies you learned this summer in the classroom.
Thanks for the live lessons. I have a background education in music and I want to learn to play the guitar. This has inspired me!
